MAMUSHI or even salmusa is a pit viper found in both yanxia and hingashi. severe bites require intensive care, it takes normally a whole week long to heal after being bitten. a name used to be born anew and do something else besides odd jobs here and there. rin isn't a mercenary, but the "mamushi" is.
a gentle and traditional doman woman, polished enough to overflow with serenity and fluidity. often shows good manners. raised to be the perfect yamato nadeshiko. while, in fact, she's someone of strong desires, perhaps too visceral for her own sake, a great thirst to keep moving and making things happen. an all consuming fire, swirling and dancing inside the red of her limbal rings. of molten ruby gazes, the portrait of a blood moon.the auri lass' constant hunger can be translated as a feeling of emptiness โ and yet she struggles to understand on how one could feel what absence is. her duality is similar to the concepts of abhutaparikalpa. "neither empty nor existing; both empty and existing."to understand her own contrasts is something sheโd need to put some efforts on. rin isn't prone to accept her failures and defects and sometimes seeks for punishment. a perfectionist of sorts. after being released from the doman military ranks out of her self destructive habits, she feels she needs to recover her honor, still clinging to the remnants of her nobility that are left.a bit desensitized to violence and still tries to argue that war is the worst thing one could go through. a patient creature by choice. doesn't like to wait, but knows it's needed to get to the most opportune moment.unlike in her childhood, rin is way more obedient than she ever was before, a well trained and disciplined fighter. rather omits than lies. rin also is vain and likes to take care of her appearance. easily fall into vices, smokes and drinks, maybe too much.some people know her truly sweet and playful side, that's not just a beautiful, polished mask of politeness. a side of intense passion and loyalty to the ones she loves with all her heart and soul. does her best to look peaceful and corteous, like the reflex of a flower in the mirror and the image of the moon on the water. a good host to people she shelters, loves to please.rin still isn't at peace with herself nor knows how to live by her own company. there's no option for peace, it seems, no matter how she tries to. to be a samurai is to serve, but what is to be a ronin besides finding a reason to live?

the minamoto, an ancient family from doma, was one of the raen clans that rose above status and established their roots with many illustrious members. with the meanings of โoriginโ, โrootโ and โsourceโ to their surname, the dependable swordsmen from the clan maintained their military status serving domaโs royalty for eras. minamoto no hayabusa followed his ancestors' path and was a loyal samurai to kaien rijin while his wife, the hingan yatsurugi no kana, took great care of their daughters, rin and shuu.both the girls were taught the art of suiboku-ga and playing shamisen. raised to be two perfect maidens, rin and shuu excelled to impress their relatives. though it wasn't enough to the oldest of the siblings, for she wanted a more adventurous life, rather than just sitting and playing instruments to please her family.hayabusa's knew he couldnโt lock away rin's free spirit. he took his own daughter as an apprentice, but never gave her a proper sword, so she couldn't fight the rebellion.after the fall of doma and hayabusaโs death on the battlefield, rin inherited his blade and soul stone. the auri lass traveled with many other refugees to eorzea seeking shelter to her mother and sister, just until finally being able to return to the east.
rin needed to train and sharpen her skills, and so she did. the au ra participated in the battle at doma castle, helping the namai villagers, rather than invading the inner part of the castle, getting assured that everyone was safe. doma was free, but she still had a lot of fight left within her.after helping the ala mhigan resistance, her daimyou told the minamoto to leave the doman ranks after he saw rin overworking herself to help rebuild the doman enclave. as a ronin, all she did was to wander the whole star and to accept some odd jobs to feed herself.her life as a mercenary started at the same time she began learning about the irezumi art, following an old doman master to learn how to tattoo bodies with a bamboo tebori. her first art piece was on her own body, over the ribs.wherever the wind would lead her to, she'd go. rin often found herself on the bottom of a bottle, trying to drown her distress.no matter how many tragedies seemed to follow her, rin felt she had no right to rest. a hard worker and a mercenary. once a noble woman, now a wanderer with no honor left, changing skin as a snake. whatever mask she uses, she's still alive
